Msamba Celebrate Daniel Comboni
Msamba Parish on Sunday celebrated the feast of St Daniel Comboni, the founder of Comboni Missionaries, with parish priest Rev. Father Patrick Lipenga reminding parishioners that they are all missionaries
Comboni Missionaries have been the pastors of Msamba Parish since 1994.
According to the Church calendar, the feast of St Daniel Comboni falls on October 10. This year, the day fell on a Thursday, so the commemoration was scheduled for Sunday.
In his homily during mass on Sunday, Fr Lipenga said the feast of St Daniel Comboni should remind everyone that missionary work is not confined to the ordained.
“Every Catholic is, and should be, a missionary because they have a duty to spread the Gospel,” he said.
Apart from sharing the Gospel with others, the parish priest said, Christians can also participate in missionary work by praying for, and supporting, those in missions.
Meanwhile, Msamba Parish has set aside November 3 this year as the day parishioners are called upon to make special monetary contributions to support Comboni seminarians currently studying at the Inter-Congregational Institute (ICI) in Balaka, southern Malawi.
